Fishing tips
• The right rod makes all the difference.
I use a 2.40 m rod with a casting weight of 15–40 g. A softer rod with a parabolic action gives the fish more time to take the lure.
A fast-action rod, on the other hand, can pull the weedless lure out of the pike’s mouth too quickly.
• Work the lure smartly.
When retrieving, make pauses and add short, sharp rod-tip jerks—several in a row, then a pause. This kind of action brings the lure to life and triggers predatory fish to strike.
